Our Belief
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in the Holy Trinity and the Bible to be the inspired Word of God.
We believe the Church is to bring people into the Kingdom of God: not only making disciples by preaching salvation, but also healing the brokenhearted, proclaiming liberty to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, freeing those who are oppressed, and proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4, Jesus quoting Isaiah).
While these are our beliefs, we do not require farmers, buyers or financiers to hold to these. We want all people to see the Lord at work and know that He is good.
Our Work
The hub of our operation is a Demonstration Farm. This participatory demonstration plot displays new technologies like drip irrigation and new crops like calla lilies. Most importantly it is a place for buyers and financiers to meet Planting Faith farmers and witness the efficacy of these farming practices. Having access to local microfinance institutions and local retailers is the key component to elevating economic standards among farmers in East Africa.
The Demonstration Farm is on land owned by the Anglican Church of Kenya’s Namrata Shah Children’s Home. Namrata Shah is home to 34 children orphaned because of AIDS. All proceeds from the demonstration farm support the nutrition, education, and shelter at the Children’s Home.
All of Kenya
We will expand into all of Kenya with Project Mangers. These Kenyan managers organize farming groups (20-30 farmers in an area), teach and execute market research, determine profitable crops, demonstrate new farming techniques that will increase their yield, and link the farmers to financiers and buyers.
Each Project Manager starts a new farming group every 4 months, managing 4 at a time. Once a group is self-sufficient the Project Manager will start another group. With 10 project mangers we can reach all of Kenya and empower farmers whose families live off $1 a day. It costs $15,000 to work with 4 farming groups and change the lives 120 farming families.
