Update From the Fields of Kenya

Update, part 2

If you are considering the Planting Faith Auction Fundraiser on June 24th, there are a number of reasons to come.

1.  Horace & Anne Tipton will be there!

2. This is NOT another temporary fix for  ”poor Africans.”  Your investment in Planting Faith trains African farmers to start business that earn livable incomes for the rest of their lives!

3. Commissary BBQ.

4. African dishes and soups to try.

5. A 3′ x 3′ Iron and Crystal chandelier to bid on.

6. A Golf Weekend in Orange Lake, FL could be yours.

7. Spears and Shields from African Warriors are being donated to bid on.  The Masai tribe sends their young men out into the grasslands with a spear and shield to kill a lion and initiate themselves as a man in their tribe.

8. Have you seen Le Pavillon? It is one of the most fascinating venues in Memphis.

There will be more to come!!

Tickets can be purchased here.

Honor Your Mother

April 25th, 2011

Those words ring through my head, especially as Mother’s day is 12 days from now.  But, how?  My mom’s greatest joy is to help people–she almost gets high off serving others and being needed.  If your mother is like that, consider honoring her with a donation to Planting Faith.  70% of our farmers are single mothers that wake before dawn and go to bed long after the sun has set to take care of their children and earn an income.  Your donation will jump start sustainable, viable businesses for these hard working women.

Mother's Day

In the Fields of Kenya

April 20th, 2011

This newsletter went out via snail mail last month.  If you didn’t get one at your home, here is an electronic copy.  It’s not a quick read–but will unpack what Planting Faith is doing in Kenya and how lives are changing with access to better techniques and markets.  So grab a cup of tea and enjoy! Download here (it’s a large file, but there are no viruses!)
